POLL RESULTS!!!!! "THE TEN GREATEST TV SHOWS OF ALL-TIME!" ARE....

(Whew!) Well, everyone if you haven't submitted your ballots yet, it's too late. I would've taken them, but we've finally at long last, reached our goal of 100 BALLOTS, barely. (Couldn't end up even one more, unfortunately) But, 100 Ballots, 352 different shows that got at least one vote, and now, we have officially completed our poll to find the "TEN GREATEST TV SHOWS OF ALL-TIME!" Thank you to again to everyone who participated, Next time in ten years, I hope A. That it won't take this long to reach our goal, and B. I hope that we can do two polls, one from people who work in television, and one from the readers and fans themselves. That's what "Sight & Sound" does for their Poll, they separate Critics and Directors, and while I'm happy that it's completed and that you all participated, I wonder just how different it would've been had everyone who polled was more of a TV expert. But, I do what I can, and what we can, so our poll is done, and every single ballot that we received will be posted below shortly, as well as the complete Top 100 RESULTS, but let's focus in on the TOP TEN!

According to the "TEN GREATEST TV SHOWS OF ALL-TIME!" POLL, the #1 GREATEST TV SHOW OF ALL-TIME is...

(Drumroll)

(Suicide is Painless plays)

With 27 VOTES, "M*A*S*H", is #1! It appeared on more ballots than any other TV show. The tale of meatball surgeons in the Korean War searching for laughter to get them through the Hell and despair of War was number one. Not the biggest surprise I'll admit, but I'm sure we keep going down the list, we'll find more surprises.

Number 2...

barely, number 2 at that. "Seinfeld", the quintessential show about nothing, got 26 VOTES, barely finishing second. It was literally a single vote separating one from two. It was actually very close, throughout the entire Poll, but for the most part, "Seinfeld" and "M*A*S*H", seem to be one and two to most of you.

Number 3, was the highest ranked show, until a couple hours ago anyway, that was still currently on the air.

A lot of late ballots came in for "Breaking Bad", and it broke the Top 3, with 20 VOTES, and our story of a chemistry teacher-turned-meth kingpin, won a tiebreaker over the number 4 show.

That number 4 show, also with 20 VOTES!

America's most beloved bigot, Archie Bunker. "All in the Family", also with 20 VOTES, was the only other show to break that threshold. If this POLL proved anything, it's that there's a lot of variety out there in terms of what everyone considered the greatest, but there was definitely room for the raucous and argumentative Bunker and this landmark show.

Number 5 on the list:

With 19 VOTES, "The Sopranos", which the WGA recently called the Best-Written Show in Television history, was fifth on our poll, the New Jersey Mafia family edged out a tiebreaker over our Number 6 show....

"Cheers" just missed the Top 5, but the beloved sitcom that most modern-day sitcoms have basically borrowed from, still got 19 VOTES, and I must say, there were more than a few who complained about the Ten Shows only rule for the ballot, because they couldn't find a spot for "Cheers", so hypothetically, it could've been higher.

Alright, number 7....

The show with the shortest reign of any show in the Top 10, Joss Whedon's Sci-Fi Western has become a cult favorite, and the cult fans of the show, apparently voted for it. It had 16 VOTES overall, and was a very later riser to this poll. I can already hear the complaints coming for this one, but unless one you were one of the other 84 people who voted, Sorry, you should've participated. And that goes for any show or results of this poll that you may consider questionable.

That said, I wonder how many would consider our number 9 show questionable,... but first... Number 8...

(Clap, clap, clap, clap) It shouldn't be too surprising that this show made the Poll. Winning a slight tiebreaker over the number 9 show with 15 votes, the story of 6 twenty-something out on their own in New York City, was the first show with no lead star (Everybody was supporting and every actor equal to the other), and has been copied and duplicated ever since, in hopes that a different show could recapture the magic and ratings of the show. It's both a quintessential show, as well as possibly an anomoly show.

Number 9, Number 9, Number 9, was....

Sci-Fi was huge in this poll. Not only was "Star Trek", the original series, only the second highest show in the genre on the Poll with 15 VOTES , it's one of three shows of the genre to break the Top 10!

And rounding out the Top Ten, just barely making it...

("The Twilight Zone" theme song)
the oldest show in the Top Ten, "The Twilight Zone" is also the only anthology series to break the Top 100 at all!

Well, there you go folks, you're Top Ten. The Top 101 are below. The numbers is parenthesis below are the number of votes a show got (If it's not the year next the show debuted which are there to separate some titles which was the name of multiple series.) All other 251 shows that got either 2 votes or one, and while, if somebody requested, I'd be willing to expand the entire list, I suspect that the Top 101 is enough for now. If a show doesn't have a number next to it, then it has the same amount of votes as the show last show on the list with a number next to it.

If you're wonder how ties were determined, well, when one of the voters chose to rank their ballots, (Which was optional) a figured out the average of each ranking on a ballot for each show to brake tiebreakers, with the lowest ranking getting the higher spots. For instance "Queer as Folk" only got 3 votes, but they were #2's on two ballots, and #1 on another. So it's ranked pretty high, among other shows with the same amount of votes. Now, if you didn't rank them, each vote counted on those ballots as a 10th place vote. Again, this was only for tiebreakers. Shows that got the most votes got the higher rankings. Speaking of ballots, I promised to post everybody's ballots, with their names on it, so they're below, so everyone can see what you voted for. (This wasn't a secret ballot folks) Starting with the eight newest ballots that came in.

*(NOTE: Ashanti Alegria's ballot was submitted before the deadline, however wasn't discovered until after the deadline, and unfortunately wasn't originally counted in the original final count. It has since been counted, ballot and her selection have been incorporated into the final results, which includes altering the Top Ten, and pushed two shows that would've been in the Top 100 overall due to a tie in their scoring, out of it altogether. David Baruffi's Entertainment Views and Reviews" greatly and sincerely apologizes for this error to Ms. Alegria, and we are not glad to have her name and ballots represented and counted in the final results.)
