POLL UPDATE: "TEN GREATEST TV SHOWS OF ALL-TIME!" HALF-WAY THROUGH and "SEINFELD" PULLS AHEAD, AGAIN!

Well, we're halfway to the goal of 100 ballots! Taken a little bit longer than I would've thought, but with this latest batch of participants, all, three of them, we've gotten to 52 total participants in our POLL to determine the "TEN GREATEST TV SHOWS OF ALL-TIME"! So, we're closer than ever to our goal, but it's taking a long-ass time to get there. If anybody has any idea how to find more participants and quickly, I'd be willing to listen. In the meantime, despite the low number of ballots, there has been some major changes at the top of the results. Here are the latest submissions:

MICHAEL MARTIN
The X-Files
Supernatural ('05 Drama Series)
The Walking Dead
Star Trek ('66)
Seinfeld
All in the Family
King of the Hill
Rome
Millennium ('96)
Burn Notice

CAROLYN HACKETT
The Sopranos
Seinfeld
NCIS
Law & Order ('90)
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit
Friends ('94)
All in the Family
Columbo
Roots
The Love Boat ('76 & '77 TV Movie)

BEN ZUK
1. Breaking Bad
2. Lost ('04)
3. Seinfeld
4. The Twilight Zone ('59)
5. I Love Lucy
6. Buffy, the Vampire Slayer
7. South Park
8. Soap
9. Mystery Science Theatre 3000
10. The Wonder Years

Three new ballots, and all of them had "Seinfeld" on them, which jumps "Seinfeld" over "M*A*S*H", and is now, back in the number one spot, having been on fifteen different ballots so far, it's way ahead right now. The other major jumper is "Breaking Bad", jumping to fifth place, due to tiebreakers. Other than that, the results haven't changed all that much. Except for one interesting thing I've noticed with all of these ballots so far. 52 ballots so far, and not one person, has yet to submit a ballot, entirely made up of shows, that someone else has already voted for, at least once. That's somewhat interesting to me, every ballot so far, has included a vote, for a TV show, that previously didn't have one. I think that's really the interesting part of what makes this poll so interesting. Everybody's different, and everybody's ideas on what the best of television was, differs from everybody else's. That's one of the reasons I post all the ballots, it's a small glimpse into the person, as much as it is, just a list of TV shows. These are a declaration, of who you are, at this moment in time. At this point, in my history/life, I consider these Ten TV Shows, to be the Ten Best of All-Time! That's the kind of declaration this is, personally and collectively. TV isn't just a sign of the time, it's a portrait into us, and these shows, mean the most to us, at this time. That's what makes this poll so special.

So, now, let's get some more of you to participating! It's very simple, several months ago, I decided that it was time to create a "Sight & Sound"-style Poll for television. "Sight & Sound" is the famed British film magazine, known mostly for their Poll which they take every decade to determine the Ten Greatest Movies of All-Time. You might remember that this year, "Vertigo" finally overtook "Citizen Kane". Anyway, I thought it was time to begin taking such a poll for television. Unlike "Sight & Sound", which polls critics and directors only, this poll is open to everyone, so if you want to submit a ballot, all you have to do is reply in the comment section of this blog, or contact me with your ballot on Facebook, or Twitter me @DavidBaruffi_EV, or, however you manage to get a hold of me.

There's only two major rules you have to follow, and they're real simple:

RULE #1: As long as it originated on television, it is eligible for this poll, regardless of genre. This simply means that you can pick anything and everything. Sitcoms, Drama, Soap Operas, News Magazines, Variety, Talk Show, Reality, TV Movies, Miniseries, Documentaries, Animation, Children's Shows, Cable, Network,... etc. As long as it originally aired on television, you can vote for it. (ie. You can't vote for "M*A*S*H", the movie, because that originally aired in Movie theaters, but "M*A*S*H", the TV show, is eligible, because it was originally on television.)

RULE #2: You must select TEN and ONLY TEN SHOWS. No picking more, no picking less.

You don't have to rank them 1-10, although I recommend it, because rankings do determine tiebreakers. Oh, and be as specific as possible with your selections, a lot of times, a couple different shows may have multiple titles, especially if a show's been remade, so, double-check with imdb.com if you're not 100% sure. Oh, and try to make sure somethings originally aired on TV. It hasn't come up often, but I've had to disqualify a couple votes for "Tom & Jerry" and "Looney Tunes" because the cartoons of those characters they were voting for, were shown in movie theaters first.

Well, that's all I've got to say. If you haven't submitted a ballot yet, submit one now! If you have, thanks and get your friends and family to submit ASAP!
